Eddy Homes Luxury Custom Homes

Eddy Homes chose to partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure that your luxury custom home is energy-efficient to save you money year after year on energy costs.

Every luxury custom home by Eddy Homes undergoes a series of performance tests to meet strict energy-efficiency program standards before being certified as ENERGY STAR® compliant by an independent Home Energy Rater.  Throughout the construction process, the Rater performs a number of inspections and diagnostic tests to verify the proper installation of the selected energy–efficient features and overall energy performance of the home.

This certification process is your assurance that your new home is comfortable, safe, durable, and energy-efficient.

Eddy Homes are guaranteed to be 20-30% more energy efficient than typical residential homes by earning the prestigious ENERGY STAR® certification.

Eddy Homes clients can expect all of the following in their new homes:

  • Energy Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment — More efficient and properly sized heating and cooling systems use less energy, which reduces utility bills. These systems also turn on and off less frequently, removing more humidity and providing better comfort.
  • High-Performance Windows — Advanced window coatings help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. They also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furniture.
  • Effective Insulation — Properly installed insulation that meets or exceeds national code requirements helps achieve even temperatures throughout the house while using less energy. The result is lower utility costs and a quieter, more comfortable home.
  • Tight Construction and Tight Ducts — Attention to detail by sealing all holes, cracks, and seams in ducts and construction assemblies helps eliminate drafts, moisture, dust, pests, and pollen. This improves comfort and the quality of indoor air, while lowering maintenance costs.
  • Energy Efficient Appliances - ENERGY STAR® Appliances will reduce the amount of electricity and water used when compared with standard appliances. Just as effective, yet highly efficient, these appliances are a significant asset to the home.

The Review and Certification Process:

Your home is reviewed by a third-party Home Energy Rater before, during, and after the actual construction process:

  • Before the construction process begins, your new home design is submitted for approval to ensure the home will qualify for the ENERGY STAR® program.
  • The first on-site evaluation takes place after framing--looking for unintentional holes that might lead to air leakage.
  • After insulation is installed, the consultant will review the home for full insulation coverage and proper installation.
  • When your home is completed, we certify that construction quality meets program standards. The consultant will measure the home's air tightness and check its ventilation capacity, measure exhaust flows and test the efficiency of your forced-air duct system.
  • At this final visit, the finished home must pass stringent air-tightness and ventilation tests before it is delivered to you.
